In 1996 Frans van Gestel and Jeroen Beker established Amsterdam based film company Motel Films, producing a stream of successful and multiple award winning feature films and television drama.
Their most recent success was Love is All (2007, directed by Joram Lürsen), the ultimate box office hit (more than 1,3 million admissions) in the Netherlands in the past fifteen years. Van Gestel and Beker also produced Paul Verhoeven's first Dutch language feature in years, Blackbook (Golden Calf Best Film 2006), and the international Mennonite love story Silent Light (Carlos Reygadas), which received the Jury Award at Cannes International Film Festival in 2007. Van Gestel and Beker were equally successful with award winning drama series like The Prince & the Girl (Peter de Baan) and Stellenbosch (Michiel van Jaarsveld), both broadcast in 2007.
Frans van Gestel currently is Advisor to the Netherlands Film Fund, Member of the Board of Advisors to the Dutch Film Academy and Member of the Board of the International Rotterdam Film Festival.
