History
IDTV has its roots in music. In 1977, IDTV began recording concerts by superstars like Prince, Madonna and Tina Turner for TV broadcasts around the world. In doing so, the company built up an international reputation as a production company specializing in large-scale TV events.
In the following years, IDTV steadily expanded its portfolio and focused in particular on the creation and production of (sponsored and non-sponsored) TV formats. In 1996, IDTV founder Harry de Winter withdrew from the company. In 2003, the UK-based media company ALL3MEDIA took full control of IDTV by buying the shares it did not already own. IDTV thus became part of a global network of TV and film companies, while retaining its distinctive character.
In 1999, IDTV Film came into being and began producing feature films. In early 2008, IDTV Film and Motel Films joined forces. Its portfolio now includes hit feature films such as De Tweeling (Twin Sisters), Van God Los (Godforsaken) and Alles Is Liefde (Love is All). In 2002, IDTV and TV DITS - a production company renowned for its socially engaged documentaries - pooled their resources to form IDTV Docs. This company produces top-quality documentaries on socially relevant issues, as well as on culture and the arts.
After having made its mark in TV, film and documentaries, IDTV went on to secure a strong position in the business-to-business market by taking over Martsell in 2001. Corporate events and promotional campaigns thus became part of the company's core business. IDTV Events & Concepts and The Garage joined forces during the summer of 2009 under the name IDTV Live360. The department focuses on brand activation using crossmedia storytelling and specialises in the synergy between events and television & media productions.
IDTV Interactive (currently known as IDTV Digital Media) was founded in 2007. It brings programmes, events and campaigns to life online. Furthermore, it produces online videos and virals, and creates online games and content on location.
